Meet Dr. Gur Simran Aurora

Dr. Aurora earned his dental degree in India before continuing his education in the United States, graduating from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2014. He went on to complete a residency in dental public health at Texas A&M University, Baylor College of Dentistry, and has been proudly serving the Texas community since 2018. His specialized training in pediatric dentistry, sedation, and dental public health makes him uniquely equipped to care for children of all ages and comfort levels.
Dr. Aurora believes every child deserves a dentist who truly listens. He takes the time to connect with young patients and their families, easing anxieties and building trust from the very first visit. You’ll find his office to be a place where kids feel safe, seen, and maybe even excited to come back.
Why Early Dental Care Matters
Children’s dental health begins earlier than most parents expect. The American Dental Association recommends bringing a child in for their first dental visit as soon as their first tooth appears, or by their first birthday at the latest. These early visits accomplish far more than just checking for cavities. They allow our doctors to monitor tooth eruption patterns, track jaw development, and identify any concerns before they have a chance to grow into bigger problems.
Starting visits young also helps children become comfortable with the dental environment. Kids who visit the dentist regularly from a young age are far less likely to develop dental anxiety later in life, which makes every future appointment easier for them and for you.
At Citrus Smiles Dental Studio in Texas, we take the time to explain what we are doing in terms children understand, answer their questions, and build trust visit by visit. Our goal is for every child to leave our office feeling proud of their smile.
Dental Services for Children at Citrus Smiles
We offer a full range of dental services designed to protect and preserve your child’s teeth at every stage of development.
Dental Exams and Cleanings
Routine dental exams and professional cleanings are the cornerstone of children’s dental care. During each visit, our team checks for early signs of tooth decay, gum issues, and developmental changes. We also provide guidance on brushing and flossing techniques so your child learns the right habits from the start. Children in Murphy, Wylie, and the surrounding DFW communities should be seen twice a year for routine care.
Dental Sealants
The back molars are especially vulnerable to decay because of their deep grooves and hard-to-reach surfaces. Dental sealants are a thin, protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces of these teeth to shield them from bacteria and food particles. The process is quick, painless, and one of the most effective preventive treatments available for school-age children.
Fluoride Treatments
Professional fluoride treatments strengthen tooth enamel and help protect against cavities between visits. We apply a concentrated fluoride varnish directly to the teeth during your child’s cleaning appointment. This simple step adds an important layer of protection for developing teeth.
Space Maintainers
When a baby tooth is lost earlier than expected, the surrounding teeth can begin to shift into the open space, affecting the path of the incoming permanent tooth. Space maintainers are small appliances placed to hold that space open until the permanent tooth is ready to erupt. This proactive approach helps protect your child’s long-term alignment and can reduce the need for more extensive orthodontic treatment down the road.
Pulpotomy
If decay reaches the inner pulp of a baby tooth, a pulpotomy, sometimes called a baby root canal, removes the affected tissue while preserving the tooth. Keeping baby teeth in place until they fall out naturally is important for speech development, chewing function, and guiding permanent teeth into proper positions.
Stainless Steel Crowns
When a primary tooth is too damaged or decayed to be restored with a filling alone, a stainless steel crown covers and protects the entire tooth. These durable crowns keep damaged teeth functional until the natural shedding process takes over.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should my child first see a dentist?
The American Dental Association recommends a child’s first dental visit by their first birthday or when their first tooth appears, whichever comes first. Early visits help establish a relationship with a dental home and allow our doctors to catch any developmental concerns early.
How often should my child come in for cleanings?
Most children benefit from visits every six months. Depending on your child’s cavity risk or developmental concerns, Dr. Aurora or Dr. Gupta may recommend a different schedule. We will discuss the right frequency for your child during their first visit.
What if my child is nervous about the dentist?
Dental anxiety in children is very common, and our team is experienced at working with nervous young patients. We use clear, friendly language, take things at your child’s pace, and create an environment that feels safe and welcoming. Nitrous oxide sedation is also available for children who need a little extra support staying relaxed.
Are baby teeth really that important if they just fall out anyway?
Baby teeth serve important functions beyond just chewing. They hold space for permanent teeth, support speech development, and contribute to proper jaw growth. Decay or early loss of baby teeth can affect your child’s alignment and long-term oral health, which is why we treat them with the same care as adult teeth.
