Dental Implants in Murphy, Wylie, Heath, Lucas, & Irving, TX

Permanent Tooth Replacement for Patients Across the Northeast Dallas Suburbs

A missing tooth changes more than you might expect. It shifts the way you bite, puts extra pressure on neighboring teeth, and quietly starts a process of bone loss in the jaw that compounds over time. The good news is that dental implants stop all of that. At Citrus Smiles Dental Studio, we offer implant-based tooth replacement across all five of our locations in Murphy, Wylie, Heath, Lucas, and Irving, TX. Whether you’re missing one tooth or considering a full-arch restoration, our team, including fellowship-trained implant dentist Dr. Mahima Gupta, DDS, FAGD, will walk you through your options honestly. If you’re in Sachse, Parker, or Rowlett and want to talk through whether implants are the right move for you, call us.

Fellowship-Trained Implant Care at Five Locations

Dr. Mahima Gupta, DDS, FAGD, is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry with over 700 hours of continuing education. Those credentials took years to earn. What they mean for you is that your implant is being planned and placed by someone who has studied this procedure extensively and knows how to adapt the plan when anatomy calls for it.

Dr. Neil Patel, DDS, also brings advanced restorative and implant training, including full-mouth rehabilitation cases, to the team. That depth across multiple providers is not common in a general practice setting, and it is something we are proud of at Citrus Smiles.

Citrus Smiles Dental Studio of Lucas provides an outstanding dental experience from start to finish. The office is modern, spotless, and welcoming, creating a comfortable atmosphere the moment you walk in. The staff is professional, warm, and attentive, making scheduling and check-in seamless. The dental team is highly knowledgeable and takes the time to explain procedures clearly, ensuring patients feel informed and at ease. They prioritize patient comfort while delivering high-quality care, and it’s clear they genuinely care about long-term dental health, not just quick fixes.

Alana G.

Our family had a great experience at Citrus smiles during our visit with Dr. Aurora and assistant Alana. If you come to this dentist you’ll find a kind bedside manner, and that he’s detailed in his work. Dr. Aurora is very skilled; my teen needed fillings that needed adjustment and he was an active listener and navigated the repair leaving our teen feeling so much better. Alana greeted us upon entering the office and made us feel welcome—she also assisted Dr. Aurora during the process and it went smooth. We recommend you visit the Lucas office and ask for Dr. Aurora and Alana. Thank you both for your outstanding service!

What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a small titanium post surgically placed into the jawbone to serve as an artificial tooth root. Once the implant fuses with the bone through a process called osseointegration, it becomes a permanent anchor for a crown, dental bridge, or denture. The result looks, feels, and functions like a natural tooth. Implants are the only tooth replacement option that addresses the root of the problem, not just the visible gap, which is why they tend to last significantly longer than alternatives like bridges or traditional dentures.

A complete dental implant system has three parts:

  • Implant post: a titanium screw placed into the jawbone that serves as the tooth root
  • Abutment: a small connector piece that attaches to the top of the implant post above the gumline
  • Restoration: the visible replacement tooth, typically a crown, bridge, or implant-supported denture

Why Choose Dental Implants Over Other Options?

Bridges and dentures have their place, but implants are in a different category. Here is why patients who research their options usually choose implants when they are a candidate:

  • Jawbone preservation: Implants are the only replacement that stimulates bone and prevents the deterioration that follows tooth loss
  • Natural look and function: A well-placed implant crown is indistinguishable from a natural tooth and lets you eat whatever you want
  • Long-term durability: With proper care, implants can last 20 years to a lifetime; bridges typically need replacement every 10 to 15 years
  • No impact on neighboring teeth: Unlike a bridge, an implant does not require grinding down the adjacent teeth
  • Simpler maintenance: Implants are cared for the same way you care for natural teeth

Types of Dental Implant Treatments at Citrus Smiles

We offer several implant-based treatment options depending on how many teeth you are replacing and what your jaw structure looks like.

One implant post supports one crown. This is the most common implant treatment and the most direct substitute for a single missing tooth. The crown is custom-made to match the color and shape of your surrounding teeth.

dental bridges supported with implantsTwo or more implant posts anchor a bridge that spans a gap of several missing teeth. This eliminates the need to grind down healthy neighboring teeth the way a traditional bridge requires.

all-on-4 on modelFour strategically placed implants support a full arch of replacement teeth. All-on-4 is an option for patients who have lost most or all of their teeth in one arch and want a fixed, non-removable restoration. Many patients receive a temporary set of teeth on the same day as implant placement.

denturesExisting or new dentures are anchored to implants, eliminating the slipping, clicking, and adhesives that make traditional dentures frustrating. Implant-supported dentures can be removable (snap-on) or fixed, depending on the number of implants used.

Are You a Candidate for Dental Implants?

Most adults with one or more missing teeth are potential candidates. During your consultation, we will use 3D cone beam imaging to evaluate your bone volume and plan placement with precision. General candidacy requirements include:

  • One or more missing teeth or teeth that are failing and need to be replaced
  • Adequate jawbone density to support an implant post (or willingness to pursue bone grafting first if needed)
  • Healthy gums without active periodontal disease
  • Good overall health with no uncontrolled conditions that impair healing
  • Commitment to oral hygiene and regular dental visits

Some patients need additional evaluation. Smokers face a higher risk of implant failure and may be advised to quit before and after surgery. Patients with bone loss may be candidates for bone grafting as a preparatory step. Certain medical conditions, like uncontrolled diabetes, require management before implant surgery. Young patients under 18 are generally not candidates because the jaw is still developing.

The Dental Implant Process at Citrus Smiles

  1. Consultation and imaging: We take cone beam 3D scans, review your health history, and discuss your tooth replacement goals
  2. Preparatory treatment (if needed): Tooth extraction, bone grafting, or periodontal treatment is completed and given time to heal
  3. Implant placement: The titanium post is placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia or sedation; this appointment typically takes one to two hours per implant
  4. Osseointegration: The implant fuses with the surrounding bone over two to six months; temporary restorations are often placed during this period
  5. Abutment and crown placement: Once healing is confirmed, the abutment is attached, and the final custom restoration is fitted
  6. Follow-up: We monitor the implant at regular checkups to confirm it is functioning correctly

Computer-Guided Implant Placement at Citrus Smiles

Dr. Gupta and our implant team use computer-guided implant placement technology, which means the position of each implant is mapped out using 3D imaging before any surgery takes place. The planning happens digitally, so by the time you are in the chair, we already know exactly where the implant goes, at what angle, and to what depth. That level of planning leads to more accurate placement, less disruption to surrounding tissue, and a more predictable recovery. It is one of the reasons implants placed with guided technology tend to have higher long-term success rates than those placed freehand.

Dental Implant Costs and Financing

The cost of a single dental implant at Citrus Smiles varies depending on the number of implants, whether preparatory procedures like bone grafting are needed, and the type of restoration. As a general range, a single implant, including the post, abutment, and crown, typically runs between $3,000 and $6,000. All-on-4 and full-arch restorations are priced per arch and involve a more detailed consultation.

Most dental insurance plans do not cover implants as a standard benefit, though some cover portions of the procedure if it is deemed medically necessary. We accept most PPO plans and offer financing through CareCredit and other third-party lenders. Our billing team will walk you through your coverage and out-of-pocket options before you commit to anything.
