All-on-4 at Citrus Smiles: The Technology Behind the Results

Dr. Mahima Gupta’s fellowship training in implantology and Dr. Neil Patel’s advanced implant and restorative background mean that the clinical team handling your All-on-4 case has experience with the full range of implant complexity, including full-arch rehabilitations. We use computer-guided implant placement, which maps the surgery before it happens using your 3D scan and cone beam imaging, allowing us to see every relevant anatomical detail before we make a single incision. That planning is not optional for a procedure like All-on-4. It is what separates predictable outcomes from improvised ones.

What Are All-on-4 Dental Implants?

all-on-4 on modelAll-on-4 is an implant-supported full-arch restoration. Four titanium implants are placed into the jawbone, two in the front positioned vertically and two in the back positioned at an angle. A full arch of prosthetic teeth is permanently attached to them. The angled placement of the posterior implants is the key to the system: it allows implants to anchor into areas of the jaw with better bone density, which means many patients who have been told they do not have enough bone for traditional implants are still candidates for All-on-4 without needing bone grafting first.

The result is a fixed, non-removable set of teeth that look like natural teeth, restore full chewing function, and stimulate the jawbone to prevent further bone loss.

Who Is a Good Candidate for All-on-4?

All-on-4 works well for a specific group of patients. You may be a good candidate if you:

  • Are missing most or all of the teeth in one or both arches
  • Wear full dentures and are frustrated with the fit, function, or maintenance
  • Have been told you do not have enough bone for traditional implants
  • Want a fixed restoration that does not need to be removed at night
  • Are in generally good health with no uncontrolled conditions that affect healing

Patients with active gum disease need to have that treated before All-on-4 can proceed. Smokers have a higher risk of implant failure and should discuss this honestly with our team. In some cases of extreme bone loss, bone grafting may still be needed even for All-on-4, though this is less common. We will tell you straight at your consultation what your situation looks like.

Benefits of All-on-4 Dental Implants

The advantages of All-on-4 over conventional dentures are significant, and they compound over time. Patients consistently point to these as the reasons they wish they had made the switch sooner:

  • A complete set of fixed teeth supported by only four implants per arch
  • Often, no bone grafting is required, even for patients with some bone loss
  • Many patients receive temporary teeth on the same day as surgery
  • Prevents continued bone loss by stimulating the jaw the way natural roots do
  • No adhesive, no nightly soaking, no slipping or clicking
  • Restored ability to eat a full range of foods
  • Long-term solution with proper care, lasting a decade or more

All-on-4 vs. Traditional Dentures

Traditional dentures sit on top of the gums and rely on suction or adhesive to stay in place. Over time, as the jawbone resorbs from the absence of tooth roots, the fit changes and the denture becomes increasingly unstable. Many denture wearers end up eating a restricted diet, avoiding social situations where their dentures might shift, and re-lining or replacing their appliance every few years.

All-on-4 implants address all of that. The implants function as tooth roots, which stop bone loss rather than allowing it to continue. The fixed arch does not move. You eat steak. You laugh without thinking about it. And instead of a process that degrades over time, you have a foundation that stabilizes.

The All-on-4 Procedure at Citrus Smiles

Step 1: Consultation and 3D Imaging

We start with a cone beam CT scan that gives us a complete 3D picture of your jaw structure, bone volume, nerve locations, and sinus anatomy. This imaging is what allows us to plan implant placement digitally before the procedure begins. We will also review your health history, discuss your goals, and give you a clear picture of what the process involves, how long it takes, and what the costs look like.

Step 2: Implant Surgery and Same-Day Temporaries

On the day of surgery, any remaining teeth are extracted if needed, and the four implants are placed. Most patients receive a temporary prosthetic arch the same day, which means you leave the office with a full set of teeth. This temporary arch is not the final restoration, but it looks presentable and allows you to eat soft foods while the implants heal.

Step 3: Healing and Osseointegration

Over the next three to six months, the implants fuse with the jawbone. This is not a painful phase for most patients, but it requires some dietary modification and follow-up appointments. We will see you regularly during this period to monitor healing and make sure everything is progressing correctly.

Step 4: Final Restoration

Once osseointegration is confirmed, the temporary arch is replaced with your permanent prosthetic. The final restoration is custom-fabricated to match the color, shape, and function of natural teeth. This is the piece you will have long-term, and it is made to hold up to normal eating and daily use.

All-on-4 Cost and Financing

All-on-4 is a significant investment, and we believe in being direct about that. The cost per arch generally ranges from $15,000 to $30,000, depending on whether extractions are needed, the material chosen for the final prosthetic, and other case-specific factors. We will give you a clear cost breakdown at your consultation so you know what to expect before you commit.

Most dental insurance does not cover All-on-4, though some plans may cover specific components. We work with CareCredit and other dental financing partners to help patients spread treatment costs over time. Cost should not be the only reason someone settles for dentures that do not work.
