What Is The Purpose of A Sports Mouth Guard
A sports mouth guard is a protective dental appliance that covers your teeth, gums, and soft tissues, shielding them from external impacts and injuries during sports. It creates a cushioning effect and absorbs the force of impact that could damage your teeth and oral tissues. This way, you can enjoy your sports game without worrying about oral injuries.
At our facility, we offer customized sports mouth guards that are specifically designed according to the unique anatomy of your oral cavity. Unlike store-bought mouth guards, these appliances fit snugly over your teeth and offer optimum protection against external injuries.
They are suitable for all ages, including young children and adults. All you have to do is schedule an appointment with our dentist to get your personalized mouth guard.
Benefits of Sports Mouth Guards
If you or your kids are into athletic sports or activities, you can benefit from our custom-made sports mouth guards. This appliance:
- Protects your teeth, gums, and oral soft tissues (lips, inside of cheeks, tongue) from high-impact injuries.
- Prevents your teeth from getting knocked out or damaged.
- Creates a protective shield for your teeth and dental work, including crowns, fillings, braces, etc.
- Avoids soft tissue injury that may cause bleeding or inflammation.
- Separates the teeth from grinding against each other during sports.
- Stabilizes the jaws and prevents the risk of temporomandibular joint damage.

What To Expect From The Process
Getting a customized sports mouth guard at our dental practice is a simple and easy process. You will first have a consultation with our dentist, during which we will discuss your sports activities. We will also examine your mouth to design a mouth guard accordingly.
Our dentist will take impressions of your teeth, capturing all the areas of your oral cavity that require protection. These impressions will be sent to a lab. After one to two weeks, we will schedule an appointment to test the fit of your mouth guard.
We will ensure that it fits comfortably and does not irritate your soft tissues. Our team will also provide instructions on using and maintaining your new appliance.
